This week’s ITS Nationals network awards were a timely reminder of just how many successful projects and programmes have been implemented across Europe over the last few years. The event was sponsored by SWARCO, The Traffic Group, Daktronics, IDASO, the 2027 ITS World Congress in Birmingham and Intertraffic. It wasn’t just nations or national organisations that were honoured – there was a prestigious individual award, too.

As the 21st European Parking Conference drew to a close, Theo Thuis (newly elected President of the European Parking Association (EPA)) urged the sector to turn momentum into results. Future mobility: It’s only natural

Cities’ streets have long been a battleground of honking, delayed buses, baffled commuters and angry cyclists. Now, small unmanned aircraft are starting to offer a new vantage points, turning the sky into a dynamic sensor network that can spot incidents, report accidents, ease congestion and operate beyond a single pilot’s sightline. The technology is already moving from pilots (the other sort) and demos into regulated trials and routine operations - and the implications for how we move through cities are surprisingly big.
